Biography
Vocalist and storyteller Ana Everling crafts a sonic bridge between ancestral tradition and avant-garde expression, centering her work on the reclamation of a Moldovan cultural heritage once targeted for systemic erasure. Her research restores the voices of composers censored for expressing their Romanian identity too overtly, weaving their lost works into original compositions that pulse with modern improvisation and live vocal looping.
Everling’s journey is one of preservation and international reach. In 2023, she was awarded the title of Artist Emerit by Moldovan President Maia Sandu in recognition of her high achievements and her dedication to representing the country’s culture abroad. Her 2024 vinyl release, Pui de Dor, features authentic folklore and recovered repertoire; its global impact was solidified when a standout track was selected for a Putumayo World Music compilation. An official artist at Folk Alliance International and SXSW, she has performed on prestigious stages including Lincoln Center in New York and the Chicago Symphony Center.
She remains a fierce advocate for the Doina – a freeform, deeply soulful genre at risk of vanishing, treating it not as a museum piece, but as a living vessel for contemporary resilience. Through her work, she transforms the echoes of a suppressed past into an immersive experience that serves as both an act of historical justice for the Republic of Moldova and a bold leap into the future of global music.
In 2026, her version of Bătrâneasca (Old Man’s Song) was included on the Putumayo collection European Escapade.
Standard lineup is a quartet, but also available as trio, duo, or electronic solo.
Quartet
Rândunica [ rɨnduˈnika ] is a musical project that treats song as a vital, life-giving duty. By bridging the stillness of ancestral memory with a bold, improvised present, Ana Everling and her ensemble do more than interpret tradition; they serve as messengers of renewal for a new generation. These compositions are vessels of the earth, holding the warmth required to break the frost of winter. This collection is the record of that flight – a passage from the quiet of the nest to the wild, improvised symphony of a world waking up.
Duo
Ana Everling – vocals, looper, Edinho Gerber – guitars
Welcome into the creative world of vocalist Ana Everling and guitarist Edinho Gerber. Edinho’s mastery of the 7-string and 12-string guitars provides a lush harmonic landscape for Ana’s voice – brilliant, nuanced, and rich in color – and her inventive use of electronics, including looping and effects that evoke children’s choirs, monastic chants, and echoes from the depths of nature. Ana leads the project with original compositions inspired by her homeland, the Republic of Moldova. Together, they create a deeply expressive sound, rooted in tradition and shaped by contemporary textures.
